On Tuesday, August 3rd, Radio One/Philadelphia (100.3 The Beat, 107.9 WRNB and Praise 103.9) will compete against the Philadelphia Police Department for a friendly game of softball during National Night Out. On this night, citizens across the country are asked to demonstrate their effort to reduce crime while showing support for local police.

Radio One’s team will include personalities from 107.9 WRNB, Praise 103.9 and 100.3 The Beat, and the Philadelphia Police Department team will include elected officials like Mayor Michael Nutter, Police Chief Charles Ramsey and deputy Police Chiefs Charlotte Council and Richard Ross.

The game will be played at the Shepherd Recreation Baseball Field (located on 57th Street and Haverford Avenue) starting at 5 pm, and you’re invited to watch the game and enjoy barbecue, soft drinks and chips. We’ll also distribute information about anti-violence activities like Goods for Guns and how to organize a town watch with the Philadelphia Police. See you there!

The School District of Philadelphia and 100.3 The Beat invite parents and families to the annual Family and Community Back to School Block Party on Friday, August 6th from 8 am-6 pm at the School District’s Education Center. It’s located at 440 North Broad Street (near Spring Garden Street), and the site will be transformed into a fun and informative one-stop location where parents get valuable information so their children are ready to go back to school in September.

T.I. will head to Philadelphia this weekend to co-host Charlie Mack’s annual “Charlie Mack Party 4 Peace Celebrity Weekend” from July 23-25th.
Charlie Mack, a longtime business associate of actor/rapper Will Smith, has held the annual weekend for the past seven years, to help stem the ongoing violence in Philadelphia and its surrounding communities.

In addition to T.I., Charlie Mack has lined up a slew of celebrities who will travel around the city to promote the peaceful theme of the weekend, while enjoying the city of Philadelphia: actor Terry Crews (Are We There Yet), Kevin Hart, Essence Atkins, Faison Love, Sheree Whitfield, Doug E.
